Fellowship-Trained Pain Management Physician
Dr. Nara Pravat is a board certified and fellowship-trained pain management physician, also board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R). He received his medical degree from University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, in 2004. He completed his physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Georgetown University Hospital/National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, DC. Dr. Pravat then completed his ACGME accredited pain management fellowship at Washington Hospital Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in PM&R and Pain Medicine.
Dr. Pravat grew up in Commerce, Texas and went to Austin College for his undergraduate degree. After his medical training, he returned to the Dallas area, which he considers home. He is a Dallas sports fan, and optimistically the Cowboys are still his favorite team. He likes to draw, sculpt and golf in his free time, as well as spend time with friends and family.
Dr. Pravat specializes in treating a broad spectrum of painful conditions, including arthritic/musculoskeletal pain, neuropathic pain, and chronic pain. The cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine is where he focuses most of his attention, treating pain with procedures including epidural steroid injections (interlaminar and transforaminal), facet injections and rhizotomy/radiofrequency ablation, trigger point injections, sacroiliac joint injections, and spinal cord stimulation/neuromodulation. He is also proficient in peripheral joint injections, peripheral nerve blocks, and medication management, when appropriate.
